How this is calculated

Mandatory Reconsideration deadlines come from the Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Jobseeker's Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 2013 and earlier statutory instruments.

  1. Hard deadline: 1 calendar month from the date on the decision letter (not the date you received it).
  2. Late request window: up to 13 months from the decision date, only if you can show a good reason for being late (e.g. illness, no notice, mental capacity, abuse).
  3. The DWP must explain why if it refuses to accept a late request.

Reminders are set at 7, 3, and 1 day before the 1-month deadline. The .ics file lets you add them to any calendar app.
