ICO Complaint Window

Work out the 3-month deadline to refer a data-protection complaint to the ICO after a controller's final response.

Your details

All values calculated using standing rule (DPA 2018 s.165 — ICO complaints procedure) figures.

How this is calculated

If you complain to a data controller about how your personal data was handled, they should give you a final response. You then have 3 months from receipt of that response to refer the matter to the Information Commissioner's Office.

If the controller fails to respond within 3 months of your initial complaint, you can also take the matter directly to the ICO at that point.
