How this is calculated

The Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines is run by Registry Trust on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. CCJs go on the Register for 6 years, but:

  • If you pay in full within 30 days of the judgment date, you can apply to have the CCJ removed from the Register entirely (form N443, £15 fee).
  • If you pay in full after 30 days, the CCJ is marked "satisfied" but stays on the Register for the rest of the 6 years.

A CCJ on the Register can affect credit applications. Removal within the 30-day window is therefore valuable.
